"lobbying for common political interests" you really reach far to try to say lobbying is now price fixing. try to stick to stocks vs politics. You are way off base , now trying to take away the tax rights of every public corp and individuals to lobby for their interest. If oil industry was trying to keep oil prices high every congressman would be in front of CNN in the nightly news. Please drop this witch hunt. As for prices on west coast , refineries that burn heavy crude from Alaska have about a 2 cent profit advantage vs competition.. as i remember back in 80's spread could be higher or lower today.
