OT Your reference point wasn't only Mindmeld's description.
I think your reference point included a teacher that you know, that must be an awesome, hardworking teacher.
I don't think what Mindmeld posted is the norm for teachers, based upon friends that I know that are teachers at some of the top K12 schools. (No offense intended to my friends, but frankly, they told me they became teachers because the hours were a lot less, they could get home when their kids got home, and the job was infinitely less stressful. Their words.)
So I think your comparison is distorted by an awesome teacher you personally know that gave it their all.
On a different note, a lot of people share their opinion on the gasoline price situation, but you don't. What's your opinion on it in terms of it impacting the economy in the future? SJMN says there's no spare capacity thus prices could increase more. However, I'm seeing new signs of people conserving and believe conservation (i.e. consumer shift in behavior thru carpooling, telecommuting, and swapping SUVs for economical cars) will help reduce pricing pressures, but if so, when? What are your thoughts?
This is obviously impacting hightech spending. I bet we'd probably have blowout earnings if it weren't for this extra tax on the economy on consumers.
