Cary, now you are being trite. So prove me wrong. Why is
AMAT buying back shares and offering a dividend? They
are trying to appease investors who are holding their stock
and raise stock values. Why do they feel the need to buy
back shares at higher than market prices? Why are investors
willing to sell their shares if AMAT is buying? Why has
AMAT's share price not risen significantly, even with a recent announced dividend. Pure and simple, at this point in
time there are too many shares available and not enough
investor demand.
