The Research Development and Engineering Center demonstrated other technology for soldier survival and for safety and vehicle reliability. Among those creations were small robots equipped with cameras, chemical detectors and disrupter signals. They are being used by troops in Iraq and Afghanistan to do things such as checking under vehicles at checkpoints for bombs, said TARDEC director Richard McClelland. The robots were developed by the commercial industry through contracts from the U.S. Army Tank-Automotive and Armaments Command in Warren, McClelland said. TARDEC is headquartered at the Tank-Automotive and Armaments Command, commonly known as TACOM. LRADs?
