You probably bailed out with everyone else within 20% of the BOTTOM of the price. Since you've been investing for 10 years, I am guessing you have experienced this before. I certainly did years ago with my own purchases of stock. I learned never to bail out. I now sell only at a profit. I haven't yet had a stock fail to recover to my purchase price, though it has taken a year or two in some cases. The other strategy that helps me is to "double in" the purchase amount (not number of shares) when the stock is down very significantly (30-60%) off my purchase price. This makes the recovery that much faster. It takes a certain "attitude" to buy when the news is grim and to hold as it gets worse, but it pays off. I know that many investing pros tell you to "cut your losses", but it is just when your gut tells you to cut and run that you should be buying, or at least holding your position. My only credential is that I am long ASND at $16 per share avg. price. The last batch I sold was at $61 pps for a profit of just about what you said you've lost in ASND the last six months. I apologize to you or others who may not appreciate this sort of "advice" on this thread, but I hate to see people lose money as individual investors when making money isn't that difficult.
