Dan Dorfman reports in todays Financial World that Conseco is interested in buying AmVestors Financial, an annuity company in Kansas. No big deal. Of course, Conseco looks at all deals. The question is whether the price is right. AmVestors seems to be a good fit. I know their products and distribution channels. It would give CNC further economies of scale in annuity business. AmVestors has already announced their shopping the company. If they want CNC stock, instead of cash, they may pick CNC over other bidders. The company's CNC bought last year that took stock have seen their value double.
