Personal reports from Guangzhou:
"Hello, Guys, I just got back from China. While I was shopping in TianHe Palaza in Guangzhou city on Sunday. There are huge protest around the palaza, all Japanese products have been pulled out from shefts, policemen standed by the entrances, we rushed out the building, not sure what happened after, we saw several big trucks loaded with army boys sitting inside, all trucks look new and have no tags on the vehicles. We have to walk a long way to catch a taxi back to hotel. Have a good day. JC"
"JC, There seems to be a lot of unrest over the Japanese being admitted on the security council of the UN and there is unrest over the skipping over of the attrocities comitted by the Japanese during WW2 and not putting that knowledge into the new school textbooks. Must be something that started in the chat rooms there. I have seen this in chats over the last few years on both sides and there are as many Japanese youth trying to stir up trouble as there are Chinese youth on the internet....Jim"
Yiwu - This issue is no longer in Beijing, but spreads. It will be hot and big. Atrocities and heinous brutalities and massacres cannot be easily forgotten, cleansed and septicized.
Unknowingly and unsuspected, to the delirium Japanese, is that Americans can still be reminded of Pearl Harbor. If erasing dark history were to be done in Germany, there is no question whatsoever what US reaction will be. |
