Laz, while some of the older docs maybe sitting pretty, having made the bulk of their fortunes when things were rosy, many of the younger ones are not doing that great.

Factor in the years necessary for their schooling and residency, their student loans, their malpractice premiums, (some of which can run to six figures), their office space, their office staff, and other overhead. After you have run those calculations, figure in insurance companies and government agencies and their sometimes embarrassingly small fee reimbursements, and you will see that the myth of high-flying doctor incomes is just that--a myth. - Holly
