Cary- hmmmm, so exactly when will that next AMAT stock split
take place? ... Your argument has not convinced me. You keep
skirting or avoiding the volatility issue that is the point
to my premise. IMO, AMAT will not have a stock split again
because equipment sales growth has moderated. That used to
be a big carrot for AMAT...growth with stock price
appreciation that was distributed as a "dividend" to
investors in the form of a stock spit. The likelihood of that
happening within the next 3-4 years looks unlikely, which
is unprecedented for AMAT.

1.68B shares outstanding and only 34M average shares traded
daily is pretty anemic volatility. Even with overall
excellent earnings and revenues AMAT HAS DONE NOTHING but
trend down for 5 years, and investors are clamoring for a
return for holding AMAT stock...and the company decides on a
3c dividend... not enough to keep large investors interested IMO, and small investors are not as likely to hold on forever while everyone else slowly divests their positions.
That is a slow death by a thousand cuts.
