Here was a song written by MY PLATOON on PI. At the time I was told we were the highest decorated platoon EVER in bootcamp at PI. Sing to the melody Ghost riders in the sky. jdn

"you can have your army khakis,
you can have your Navy blues.
There is another fighting man,
I'll introduce to you.
His uniform is spotless,
The best you've ever seen,
The Germans called him Devildog,
But his real name is MARINE.
He came from Parriss Island,
The land that God forgot,
The mud is 14 inches deep,
The sun is scorching hot.
He's peeled a million onions,
And twice as many Spuds,
And spends most all his free time,
Squaring away his duds.
His rifle is his best friend,
It never leaves his side,
He shoots it with the meanest eye,
That no one can deny,
And when he goes to battle,
you can hear his warlike cry,
Comeon Leathernecks,
Kill em till we die.
Now ladies here's a tip,
That I will give to you,
Get yourself a good Marine,
There's nothing he cant do.
And when he dies and goes to Heaven,
St.Peter he will tell,
Another marine reporting sir,
I'VE SERVED MY COUNTRY WELL.

Gung Ho, Gung Ho, UNITED STATES MARINE.

Can you believe after all these years I still remember it and remember us sitting around making up each verse as we went. The whole platoon, platoon #105 P.I. wrote it.
