"The cover-up is worse than the crime" may become a once-again proven axiom should the Delay congress fall next year. If moderates, liberals and a few honest conservatives stand up to Bush after that, we could see some massive investigations. Maybe even impeachment proceedings.

I notice David Dreier is the head of the house ethics committee now. David is a moderate with big ambitions. Problem is, he's also a closeted gay in a conservative district. If he doesn't start doing his job, he may very well lose his job next election. Ethics is important to most voters of all parties. At least it ought to be. So watch Dreier be gradually forced to investigate Delay. He's in a difficult spot. The right thing to do is to move against the delay rightwingers. He will probably do so, but only once he sees it as the lesser of two dangers career-wise. That point is coming soon.
