Agreed it's not a good situation. But even if the notoriously corrupt Indonesian government were to turn honest overnight, you'd still have the world's fourth most populous country concentrated in a geologically active region. Java is nothing but a string of volcanoes, but if it weren't for them, we'd be talking about massive famines there.
OTOH, we're not talking about evacuating China, either:
