I'm bothered by the fact that outsourcing ISN'T really saving any money for the corporations (while it does affect the lifestyles of the engineers in the US). It takes longer to do the development overseas, and the results are typically less good from a customer/usability point of view - ultimately making the company more vulnerable, not less.

I doubt you are correct. Outsourcing includes LOTS of stuff, and in general I think it saves lots of money.

ADP helps companies outsource their payroll processing, so they can just pay ADP a fee rather than maintain a fulltime internal payroll processing department.

SANM/SLR/CLS/FLEX/JBL and the other EMS companies help product makers outsource their manufacturing so they don't have to manage factories through boom-bust periods.

Advertising agencies help companies outsource their marketing campaigns so they don't have to maintain huge, internal marketing departments.

Are you saying none of these save money for the companies that use outsourcing, or are you just referring to Indian engineers replacing US engineers in certain areas?
