Hello Cobalt Blue, Actions speak louder than words. Here are some actions of the Japanese government. 1. Absolutely refuse to compensate the few remaining "comfort women", i.e. Korean and Chinese women who were forced into sexual "service" to the Japanese army. 2. Textbooks get watered down almost annually. It seems like World War II basically consisted of anti-Japanese riots in China and atomic bombs on Japan. 3. Never any apology for 19th century aggressions such as the invasion and annexation of a Chinese province. 4. Most telling of all, the prime minister annually goes to the shrine and pays respect to the glorious memory of the generals who massacred Chinese. These generals are buried there in state. 5. Families who have a relative that died in the war against China are given a plaque to mount on their front door, to honor their noble deeds as invaders. Apologize? Really? Once, once I saw an apology on some graves in Japan. It was not an apology to any invaded people. It was an apology to some local group of Japanese men who were sent to some battlefield and were wiped out. They should not have been sent to a battle that they had no chance of winning. Hence apology.
