i have a digital gauge.. about four years old.. works every time. i might have spent a few pennies more than i usually did for one.. prior i had problems getting the correct pressure.

best time to check your tires... before you go out in the morning or after car has been sitting for a few hours. take pressure determine what pressure should be. drive to station and add that amount of air to tire or maybe a little more. as you build up pressure once you start to drive the car.

next morning check you tires again.. if over inflated let out a little air.. you should be ok for another month. or until outside temperature changes. temperature change affects tire pressure.

tires are not cheap to replace , take care of them , get them balanced and front end checked once or year or so. This will prevent tires from being ruined. not sure tire rotation at todays costs saves you anything.
