First thing I'd try is to clear history. Assuming that doesn't do it, I'd download and install Webroot's Window Washer program. It's shareware with a thirty day trial and highly respected. It should delete the index.dat file and fix your problem...I hope.

If that doesn't work, I'd repair IE and if that fails, edit the registry and reinstall IE itself. I'll post the instructions if the Washer doesn't fix the problem.
