before AMDs policy of at the money grants was in force - many of these with strike prices way lower than stock price at the time of grant.

OK - I didn't realize that AMD gave out in-the-money options at some point. These produce a charge under APB 25, and so should already be reflected in AMD's earnings. The additional pro forma charge under FAS 123 for these is typically small.
