RE: "...how is AMAT doing this morning?"

The impetus for the lower prices, today, is ASML's quarterly report. I just listened to ASML's 30 minute conference call with the press and I will listen to the 60 minute analyst's call later. I suppose everyone will be surprised to learn that ASML beat expectations by $0.04 and reported sterling results by all measures. Management is very satisfied, confident, and optimistic. The stock is down 6.5% because orders and backlog are declining. Management expects a flat 2005, echoing research houses, and expects to be profitable every quarter. Management expects orders to pick up, but can't be certain enough to forecast when and how much.
