Adobe Reader Background Task

I need to correct what I told you prior.

I was checking the status of the background task by opening and closing the Reader, not with a PDF open in the browser.

With a PDF open in the browser the task stays running in both IE and FireFox for me.

There is an option in Adobe Reader (Edit | Preferences | Internet) that allows checking off "Display PDF in Browser" and if it's unchecked the PDF opens the reader and when the Reader is closed it cancels the task.

From what I can determine the behavior you have noticed is by intent (to speed loading on a 2nd instance) and was present in v. 6.0.x.
