I know that you asked me to never post to you again, but let's make peace. OK, let's give it a try. My grandmother used to shoot varmints with rock salt. Mostly foxes but also marauding dogs and coons. I assume that you can do that without seriously injuring an animal, and make it want to avoid you. The first chamber of that shotgun had the rock salt, the other had the buckshot. She never had to use the buckshot.
