The number of Americans killed by guns annually far exceeds 12,000. Accidents, suicide, murder/manslaughter and justifiable homicide result in around 30,000 deaths a year in this country. This number has been declining from even higher totals partly due to better emergency care. If we can accept 80 gun caused deaths a day as acceptable then we can accept almost anything.
