Jeff got it right. It's exponential. I don't see how Apple could have done much better. Remember this was a company that was supposedly dead a few years ago. This is just the very start and anyone who thought that Apple was going to get 3% of the market this time wasn't thinking very clearly. The really large market share games are still a year or two out. There's still a LOT of ignorance and fear among the Microsoft sheep. The market share thing is going to be a word of mouth thing. More adventurous users will be first then the vast majority of sheep like users will slowly start buying when they see it’s OK to switch and realize they no longer have to hassle with all the problems Windows users foolishly put up with. The changes will be exponential and we are just at the start of the upswing.

Just from browsing I think they even better overseas where Microsoft is less entrenched and less brainwashed.

Personally I think it was a GREAT quarter, less for the music income, although that is important. More for solid computer sales. It shows a million people had faith in a platform that does after all have a small market share.

This isn’t hype by a long shot. Jobs won’t mention market share until it’s very significant. Like 5%. At that point it will be clear that the Microsoft paradigm is over and that it’s a new internet world where the UNIX flavors are clear, safe, solid alternatives to Microsoft. Microsoft will still be around but it will be more like the start of the Auto business. Apple could become the GM of the computer business. Actually I think they will. Business computers are more like trucks more of a specialty. Apple and Microsoft will remain the leaders. Linux will become the low cost alternative. I can even see Microsoft getting serious about getting their products right. Soon we will be seeing serious foreign alternatives from China and India.
