I went to and benefitted from college, but I owe my drive to read, to value books value learning to Louis L'Amour. The first of his books I read (when I was in the sixth grade) "To Tame A Land," had Rye Tyler reading Plutarch in the saddle. Then I read it myself when I found it in the high school library and have it in my own library fifty years later so I can read it again.
