I think it's just such fine line between being cautious and optimistic.
It's similar to signing up for certain specs:
on one hand you need to be conservative but at the same time aggressive in order not to loose business.
Hill et al are not idiots because they know at the next CC or midquarter it will bite back.
Same applies to customer relationship - the days of BS'ing your way out are over.
Did you listen to the LRCX call (good old MF of BofA) was drilling down on options - he and Covello started the next (DRAM) leg down scenario.
And both firms (GS & BofA) highly involved in oil speculation;
some times I think their sole purpose is to divert money
