I'm sure that would be illegal. It didn't happen to me, but I knew a guy who was car shopping and the car salesman asked for his car keys to get an appraisal on the guy's trade in. After they had his keys they wouldn't let him go. He finally had to threaten calling the police if they didn't give him his keys back. * * *
