Socialist Sanders Has Family on Payroll

RUSH: Looky here, folks. The nation's only elected socialist -- well, I take that back. There's a whole bunch of elected socialists, but they don't call themselves that, they call themselves Democrats. The only self-proclaimed elected socialist in the US House of Representatives, Bernie Sanders, guess what he did? He used campaign donations to pay his wife and stepdaughter more than $150,000 for campaign-related work since 2000, according to records filed with the federal elections committee. "Jane O'Meara Sanders, his wife, received $91,020 between 2002 and 2004 for 'consultation' and for negotiating the purchase of television and radio time-slots for [socialist] Sanders' advertisements. Approximately $61,000 of that was 'pass through' money that was used to pay media outlets for advertising time, Jane O'Meara Sanders said in an interview. The rest, about $30,000, she kept as payment for her services, she said."
Now, something strange about this because I am an expert in the advertising business and agency commissions are anywhere between 15 and 20% and clearly Bernie's wife here took a little bit more off the top than that. "Carina Driscoll, daughter to Jane O'Meara [socialist] Sanders and stepdaughter to the lawmaker, earned $65,002 in 'wages' between 2000 and 2004, campaign records show. Driscoll, a former state legislator, served as [socialist] Sanders' campaign manager in 2000, his fund-raiser and office manager in 2003 and his database manager in 2004, according to Jeff Weaver, Sanders' chief of staff." Bernie Sanders, the only elected proclaimed socialist in the House of Representatives. I guess he's above the law because nobody is concerned about this and people are going to say, "Ah, he's just a socialist. He's not in the Democrat leadership, and you're not going to get away with distracting us from DeLay by pointing out some of our guys. You're not going to do that."
Yes we will. We're going to continue to point it out and it's not about hypocrisy. It is about the lack of an agenda on the left and the lack of ability to advance anything they're for. They're only in total absorption with scandal. What was it we once heard from Dick Gephardt and Bill Clinton, the politics of personal destruction must stop? The self-loathing Bill Clinton, by the way. You know, it just struck me the other day, we're talking about this Arthur Finkelstein, a gay Republican as being self-loathing. Here's once again the irony of Bill Clinton describing somebody else's lifestyle and claiming to have a moral platform above and beyond everyone else to be able to do this. I think Clinton's problem based on that piece in the Boston Globe we shared with you yesterday. If anybody's self-loathing because he hasn't been universally accepted and loved, it might be Bill Clinton.
