Michal,

You may find this book of interest

I've got that book. One of my faves. Also a signed print of the image on the cover. Also one of my faves.

The dealer I bought the photo from told me a fascinating story about it that I've never seen or heard elsewhere. I wonder if you or anyone has come across it: According to her, Kertesz was showing a portfolio of pictures to a New York dealer. The NY dealer was looking through the portfolio but stopped when she got to the image that is on the cover of the book. She explained that the guy carrying the package was her uncle. (Remember that the picture was taken in France.)

Interesting, huh! True? I trust my dealer. She probably read about it somewhere.

By the way, there is a terrific show of Kertesz photos currently at the National Gallery of Art (Washington, DC). The picture on the front cover of the book is one of the images in the show.
