Any person that is not an adult, and responsible for their own debt, should not be able to get a credit card unless the parent co-signs the contract, and agrees to cover any delinquencies.


If my kid gets a card in his name, and I didn't sign on it, good luck on getting me to pay for it. If the card company puts it against your credit, you have a fight on your hands.

My youngest hurt me by bouncing checks at Costco. I had allowed him to get a lower annual charge by paying for his Costco card on my account. I had to make good on his checks to clear it up.
