It looks like there has been a big institutional buyer of the stock over the last 2-3 days. Wessels Arnold had very positive comments on the company today w/regards to 1)current business and the 3Q97 financials and 2)AVNTs opportunity to upgrade the current Compass/VLSI installed base w/new products. Also, I think there have been a number of recent conferences in Silicon Valley focusing on semiconductor and semiconductor equipment stocks and all the money that will be spent in the deep-submicron area (<.35u)? over the next 2-3 years. Does anyone know when/what AVNT is expected to report this quarter? Revenue & EPS?
