The title of the post is not an oxymoron. The Amish have been enthusiastic adopters of genetically modified crops. Ironically, the higher productivity of the crop substitutes for the fact that the Amish harvest it by hand. Less ironically the GM crops use fewer pesticides and herbicides... Is there a scientific basis for the fear genetically altered crops cause in people? For an example, Europe has banned them. Nowhere do I see that there is any evidence they will harm us, and yet, that is implicit with all the fear being expressed. ted
