Looking more closing at that Dow chart, it is possible to find 12-month or shorter periods in which 17% gains were made, so there is precedent for what you say. The economy overall does seem to be doing better, so it could happen again. I need to look more closely. PnF shoots a downward break through the bearish resistance line. stockcharts.com
