Next week will be good for AMD and it starts off Monday with Hector's NAB 2005 MultiMedia World keynote at 10:45 AM. This is a big deal in my opinion as it clearly shows that the digital media world (video, HD, film, 3D, games, audio) is very high on AMD. Note the following:
During the MultiMedia World keynote, Ruiz will lead a showcase of creative artists from industries including film, broadcasting and music who are using new technologies to allow them to work at the speed of their imagination. Ruiz and the artists will demonstrate how these technologies have removed traditional technology barriers, simplified the increasingly complex creative process and significantly expanded their artistic potential and ability.
Dual-core demos? I expect we will hear about a dual-core system or two used for HD editing or 3D modeling. Might even see some newly recompiled 64-bit apps on production Windows 64 running on dual-core. Boy would that be a sweet precursor to Thursday.
“AMD is sparking a renaissance for the digital artist,” said John Marino, NAB vice president for science and technology. “AMD is one of the few technology companies that understands what the artistic community needs, and has the vision and ability to deliver technology solutions that balance artistic performance with the ultimate in production power. We are very happy to welcome Hector and AMD to the world’s largest digital media event.”

That my friends is a very powerful endorsement from the science and technolgy officer of the "worlds largest electronic media show".
These last couple of days certainly could shake the faith of even the most hardcore AMD investor, but take a deep breath, and don't lose sight for a second of why you've invested in this company. Its prospects going forward are phenominal. When I read a keynote intro like this I can clearly see the changing tide. It is AMD that is "sparking the renaissance", it is AMD that "understands", it is AMD that has the "vision", and it is AMD that has the "ability to deliver technology solutions that balance artistic performance with the ultimate in production power."
That POWER will be unveiled on April 21st. |
