Dave, not having breasts, I'm not really concerned or informed about breast cancer. I can tell you that as a man over 50, I'm supposed to have a colonoscopy every year, but find without insurance I can't afford it, despite my doctor's pestering. From what has been drummed into me, early detection is the key to beating cancer, but if you can't afford the tests, you just have to hope you don't get it. I wonder how many people die of cancer that goes undetected until their forced to go to the emergency room for unbearable pain? For many diseases, prevention and early detection are the best courses of action, for the individual as well as cost-wise for society. People without insurance forgo these strategies.
