Whatever the NYTimes did or did not do is not particularly relevant to what happened at Columbia in terms of the alleged incidents and the report.

As for Said's influence on the department, I think that's terrific. If counter influence is important to you, there's plenty of counter influence around the University. Makes sense to have some place in which the Palestinian story gets into the picture.

So long as students are not graded on ideological grounds and faculty members encourage multiple points of view, and are open about their own, that's good education.
