"Once the flash IPO is completed"

How the script has changed! It's seems like only minutes ago that you were calling for ever-expanding revenues and profits from flash and world domination for AMD's new flash process(es) while you castigated critics as doom and gloomers.

10 months ago I was calling for the sale of the flash division while it could still attract a decent price for shareholders: 6 months ago I concluded that a decent price was by then unlikely and I predicted that there would be a "restructuring" such as spin-off in 6 to 9 months.

DRBES, the Ruiz loyalist, replied several times to the topic to the effect that Hector would never allow it - he had big plans for flash. (I can't blame DRBES really because when asked in a CC why he would not get rid of the flash division to improve shareholder value, Ruiz huffed and puffed to the effect that he was not going to be deflected by a "blip" in the performance of the flash division). The people who applauded his resolute stand then now applaude his decisive brilliance in ordering a spin-off.

dougsf was aghast that I and others even suggested that flash should be sold or spun off and mocked the suggestion many times, lecturing all and sundry, including several innocent straw men who just happened to be passing, in his usual manner. I replied that he would change his tune as soon as Ruiz indicated that he would be changing his - and so it came to be.

My prediction is still in good standing and I further predict that this spin off will be very difficult and will be achieved on terms much less favourable for AMD shareholders than it would have been had it been undertaken 10-6 months ago. Meanhwhile, potential losses from flash and the costs and other uncertainties surrounding the spin-off will continue to cap any sustained rally in the AMD share price until at least September/October.

AMD is a traders stock and there will be some rockin' and rollin' between now and then - in my opinion.
