DanRathergate was a Karl Rove dirty trick. How do we know this? Well, admittedly, we don't know all the details, and Rather was suckered, but let's look at a typical Rove dirty trick (not including his smear campaigns against three straight Silver Star war heros in 2000-2004, all of which were 100% lies and slander)

Some 20 years ago, Rove was running a campaign for Governor Clements of Texas. Clements was a Zell Miller type ornery jerk and fell behind the Dem. A week before the election, ROve called in the FBI and pointed to a "hidden bug" in his office which he insinuated the Dems had planted. It was a big scandal and forced the Dems to deny it but look guilty.

Later on, after Rove's trick won the election, the bug was found to have a battery in it with only a 6 hour life, and only two hours of the six had been used. In other words, it was planted two hours before Rove called in the cops. By who? Rove himself of course. Who else? This is a typical CIA false flag operation, the same kind of thing which was probably used against Rather.
