There was a time when I would have been horrified at the thought that I would one day support the filibuster. But there has to be a way to take the sharp edges off the nominee class. It's all well and good to prefer judges with a particular philosophy, but that the extreme end of the range of any philosophy are those without the perspective and temperament to be exercise good judgment in a complex and diverse world. They shouldn't be nominated and they shouldn't be approved. If we have to suffer filibusters for that to happen, so be it.
