it doesn't make sense. you're claiming that within the last 18 months intel suddenly put a lot more designers/money/resources into new products (or they got a lot better about predicting the future) which is obviously not the case. if they are keeping similar levels of these, were they idle ? of course not. the most reasonable conclusion is that they were doing stuff which was not relevant for today and they had to change course as the competition came up with something they didn't anticipate and that's why they are struggling to catch up. with all their resources they may but you're hoping that amd will not come up with another single product which will keep them competitive. knowing their history they may not but it's far from a sure thing.
