i doubt opening up Alaska will be a cause for oil prices to fall, more likely this new oil will replace wells that are drying up. I believe we do export oil from Alaska and it is not all brought into southern ca.

refineries are not a reason why oil prices are high. Refineries are not being built in the united states because you cannot get permits through joe six pack.

Refineries also have much more trouble blending gasoline with several various blends because our politicians demands special blends for various parts of regions and in some states their are three different blends of one grade of gasoline which makes for nine blends. Now refinery has to store these blends in more tanks , we have to pig the lines for separate shipments, cut over to more tanks in terminals. etc. This is not free , it costs in reduced effeciencies. higher cost of handling products.

We have had an energy bill on the table for the last three years and democrats have not moved on it. Let's get going with nuke fuel, wind,, oh,, ted kennedy and John Kerry turned down wind on cape cod as it would ruin the view. Let's open up of coast off south carolina for large natural gas deposits. off the coast florida,, for oil and gas.. off calf. for oil and let's start to drill in rockies etc for natural gas vs just during certain part of year so we do not disrupt the wild goats etc.

I am sorry but we need to look in the mirror before we blame others for our oil price problems.
