What Media Bias? XIX

Blogs for Bush

In the first three months of 2005, as Democrat's stepped up their ruthless and misleading attacks on the House Majority Leader, Tom Delay took in $438,235 for his re-election campaign. This is in contrast to the $181,236 Mr. Delay received in the first quarter of 2001, and the $94,407 taken in the first quarter of 2003 (ie, at the same time in the election cycle).

You'd think that the headline of the MSM news story would be "In Spite of Trouble, Delay Rakes in Big Campaign Donations" with, perhaps, a subhead of "Delay Retains Broad and Deep Support in Home District". But, no; our MSM can't go about actually reporting the news.

You see, $100,000 of that $438,235 was in the form of a loan Delay got for his re-election bid. This would still leave $338,235 in actual donations (or a bit more than 3.5 times the amount of donations he received in first quarter 2003)...in other words, the story is still about how Tom Delay is getting massive support; but the MSM headline?

"DeLay Borrows $100,000 for Re-Election Campaign"

Sigh....
