Japanese atrocities against China were indeed long-lasting and huge.

But Japan is not the only country that has failed to atone for horrible atrocities. The US military killed millions of civilians during the 1965-75 Indochina war and has not yet apologized for any of this to my knowledge. Not to speak of the ongoing depredations against Iraq which is similar in many respects to earlier Japanese aggression against China.

If formerly bitter enemies like Germany and France, and Germany and Russia can finally make peace, why not China and Japan?
