Yes, you are right. Yet, barring Hitler genocide, there is no any other comparison for the atrocity Japanese imperialists have done to Chinese in China. And even if Hitler's genocide towards Jews has only lasted <15 years, while the Japanese have committed crimes in China for 50 years. That lasted Two generations longer, so the memory is still fresh.

Reason #1, Germany only committed genocide on Jewish, not on regular Russian or French. So if you want to compare, then compare the relationship bet. Jewish and Germany.
#2.Russia (ex-USSR) has taken plenty of assets from Berlin. Even though asset/money cannot replace what has lost in the war, especially the human lives, but it helps, believe it or not. In other words, if Japanese had compensated China huge amount of money, Chinese would have felt much better;
#3. Germany has sincerely apologized, truly regret, and indeed abandoned Militarism (the proof is to refuse send troops to Iraq). And they are teaching their offspring about what Hitler and his followers had done. By comparison, Japan still glorifies their war criminals, pay tribune to them every single year, actively engaged in military development allowed by its current constitution, and is discussing to revise its constitution for a full scale of military build-up. They also told Taiwan in case China uses force to take back Taiwan, Japan will back up Taiwan and fight with China. They have never even seriously apologized to any of its neighboring countries, to whom they have done tremendous harm. No to mention, they never even examined their own history, and they completely avoid mentioning the atrocity they have performed on other human beings not long ago.
And until today, the Japanese is still doing a lot of things to harm Chinese and its neighboring countries.
