Dan, The discounted price of IBM's hurricane platform, which puts 64mb of level 3 cache on the motherboard, is $18K with 2 CPUs. Wow Dan, you completely missed the platform change at IBM. They´re selling X3 these days. I suggest you check out the website to get yourself up to date. You must have lived under a rock to miss this. This one represents a sea change for INTEL 4-way platforms, both in performance and especially price/performance. All X3 benchmarks I´ve seen so far beat current Opteron 4-way with ease. You're being a bit dull there. Or, you just don´t know what you´re talking about.
