la-

we thought we were neophytes when we
bought haereticus, but compared to this
couple, we were downright experienced.

everyone has to start somewhere. i bought a bigger
boat than most people do in NM when i started.
i wanted to skip the 5 steps where you sell to
buy a bigger one several times. it's still the
biggest practical boat to sail (and move and
launch) in the desert. i made the right choice.

he's never sailed either but plans to spend
a year cruising the san juan islands and then
head up to alaska!!

perfeck. lots of people start that way. half
or more decide to sell the boat after their first
bad weather experience. but the rest become
addicted cruisers. i know people who have
taken macgregors to alaska from vancouver or
seattle. haereticus is a much more seaworthy boat
than a macgregor.

the guy asked harold if he could sail the
boat at night? harold said it was equipped
to sail at night but he never does, cuz
HE'S not equipped. the guy figured it would
take him a couple days to get it back to
tacoma, so he just wondered about sailing
at night too. very scary.

night sailing is great. remember our sail in
san carlos? but tying up at the dock at night
can be a damp experience. <G>

then another couple looked today.

whether you think so or not. right now is prime
season for boat sales. keep those ads placed.
more new buyers will be looking everyday throughout
the spring and summer.

jimmy took my advice about selling the tri.
he realizes he's not going to get his refurbishing
money out of it and he's lowering the price to
$25,000 US. we both decided that the buyer he's
looking for is going to be a neophyte, adventurer,
hippie or someone looking for a cheap floating house
in a beautiful neighborhood south of the border.

i changed his slick, fancy website to look like
a homemade page and he's placing cheap ads in places
where dreamers and adventuresome risk takers hang out.

i put an ad on cragislist (phoenix) for him:

phoenix.craigslist.org

i'd appreciate it if everyone in the bar would write
this on the back of a business card and tack it up
in the baño of their favorite pub or maybe on
a bulletin board at the nearest university:

For Sale. 41' Trimaran in San Carlos, Sonora, Mexico,
$25,000. Visit sailcortez.com for full info.
