Roger - This is extracted from SD Union-Tribune article yesterday:

"At Idec, the company's board will take up the question later this month of where to build the new manufacturing plant. The chairman, Rastetter, said he'd like San Diego to win out, partly out of loyalty and partly because of the inconvenience of establishing a remote site.

Idec already has a $25 million manufacturing facility in La Jolla, where it plans to manufacture its first drug, a lymphoma treatment that is now up for regulatory approval. The new plant, which would initially employ 220 people at an average salary of $45,000, would be for future drugs in Idec's pipeline.

San Antonio has offered Idec a compelling package: free land and an arrangement with a utility that would reduce the cost of financing the project. But the company also has its eye on Brown Field in Otay Mesa.

Rastetter, who is also president of the local Biocom industry group, said he's looking to San Diego to come through with incentives that would reduce impact fees for building infrastructure, cut the initial utility costs and help with financing the plant."
