GSM in Latin America ...

... is now the most widely subscribed Technology in the region and it is a region that Nokia does very well in for all 3 major digital technologies.

Informa Telecoms & Media (formerly EMC Cellular Database) has checked in with preliminary subscriber statistics for Q1 and 3GAmericas has abstracted their estimates for Latin America and the Caribbean.

GSM was a late starter in ANSI-41 (AMPS, TDMA, CDMA) dominated Latin America but GSM subscribers passed CDMA subscribers in Latin America in Q2 2004 and have now passed TDMA subscribers. TDMA growth in Latin America 1st turned negative in Q4 2004.

Through March 2005, estimated wireless market share by technology in Latin America and the Caribbean is:

Tech Subscribers Share Q1 Digital Net Additions

===========

·
