One advantage for Intel for not having a dual core, but just 2 die that have not been separated, is that if they misjudge the demand, they can always cut the die in half and sell them as Celerons or something...

Good point, and Smithfield can be any 2 adjacent fully functional die. They don't even need to differentiate at wafer sort. They can wait until they saw them up.
