JQP,

<<That is a signal that the Chinese leadership is trying to use Nationalism to deflect attention from itself and the countries problems. IMHO Nationalism/Patriotism being pushed is ALWAYS a bad sign for the country it is happening in.>>

I am curious how that also applies to our gold 'ol USA.

...in respect to weak dollar(higher oil....ouch!)
...bringing on higher interest rates...
...leading to collapsing real estate values...
w/o buffer of a strong manufacturing base to help us work our way out of it.

Virtually zero savings rate in the US. Highest debt ratios ever(in history?). 50% of real estate purchases are by way of ARM(!!!) and 36% were bought last year for "spec".

A collapse in the consumerism in the West...can it force China to accelerate nationalism? View the US as "weak" and not wanting another Gulf war III? Sabre rattling by USA against Iran(China's ally) leads to China military intervention in Iran/Iraq?

This is my scenario, but I've always been a doom & gloomer.
