Rick, I'm just fed up with this company. If it does something someday, great, but there are other fish to catch.

I don't think the Wincom statement last month had anything to do with Raoul except getting his OK to let it fly. Dan put that out to stop the rumours. Notice it came from his company, Caliente, and said the same thing his recorded message has said for months. Damage control - and it worked, the rumours stopped and like you say "sure is quiet."

CellNet is so far ahead of these guys I don't know what would give Wincom any advantage in the meter reading arena. CellNet utilizes low cost radio frequencies as well. When the FCC conceived the IVDS licenses in the late 80's, the value was in their video capability. They thought it would be great to be able to order a pizza through your TV. Wincom's business plan involves data transfer only and their future looks to be dependent on success with "advanced meter reading" (AMR). From these revenues other applications may grow. Without AMR I don't see the cash to market the rest of their plan. If IVDS is so superior to the frquencies CNDS uses, then I would expect CNDS, and anyone else, to bid aggresively at future FCC IVDS auctions.

CellNet today announced gas meter reading availability. I have a analyst report from Morgan Stanley on CNDS that is very informative and comprehensive of the meter reading market. I'll mail you a copy if you email me your address.
