Slow page loads:

What I've noticed here is that certain pages have been loading very slowly due to congestion on the doubleclick ad server which is also loaded when ad-laden sites such as the L.A. Times are accessed.

The way to watch this is to observe what is being loaded in the "dialogue" box in the bottom rail of the Firefox browser.
